This workshop, aimed at graduate teachers, experienced teachers new to the subject area or humanities teachers who haven’t taught history before, will provide teachers with a range of knowledge, including:
- Where to source engaging resources to teach historical content and what strategies to use to better help students understand and respond to historical content
- Where to source and how to teach different types of historical sources – such as primary and secondary, written and visual, archaeological and historical
- How to teach history skills, such as source analysis, research and historical writing
- Literacy skills for the history and geography classroom, including processes to scaffold and differentiate tasks
- Effective history and geography lesson planning
- Effective ICT tools to use in the history classroom
